Course Description:
This online course is designed as a self-directed educational program for new, seasoned or aspiring healthcare environmental services directors or managers seeking to play a role in the AHA Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence (HPOE) as it relates to environmental services. This course is also extremely valuable for the professionals in need of additional contact hours for CHESP renewal!

Course Objective:

  • To facilitate an adult learning and collaborative environment for healthcare environmental services managers and directors
  • To expand knowledge and expertise while preparing for the unique challenges of the position

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Conduct an OSHA internal environmental audit
  • Describe the Quality Improvement model
  • Describe and implement the eight steps to Process Improvement
  • Using critical thinking skills, apply the Environmental Services Role in Achieving the Institute for Medicine Six Aims for Improvement to the project work
  • Write and present a comprehensive Business Plan

Online Education System Requirements:
ASHES Online Education programs are hosted on the iCohere platform. You can access iCohere from any computer with internet access 24/7. A 10-minute presentation will be available prior to course start to allow course participants to familiarize themselves with iCohere. The presentation will cover how to post the required assignments, how to locate the required reading material each week, etc.
