For the new supervisor or manager, this ten week, self directed program covers areas such as:

  • environmental sanitation,
  • microbiology,
  • management and distribution of work,
  • customer service,
  • quality assurance and provides program participants the opportunity to collaborate, interact, problem solve and complete a targeted final project.

Each module includes reading assignments, discussion opportunities and a project. Learn new ideas and strategies from the reading materials and from each other as you fine tune your skill sets.

The duration for each session is ten (10) weeks.

Course Description:
This online course is designed as a self-directed educational program for new healthcare environmental services supervisors and/or managers. Individuals are responsible for logging to the course and completing the assigned material and final project. Participants of this program will collaborate, interact, review material, and ultimately, learn from the reading materials and each other's knowledge and experience.

Course Objectives:
The objective of this course is to facilitate an adult learning and collaborative environment in which healthcare environmental services supervisors/manager can expand their knowledge and prepare for the many challenges facing the supervisory or managerial position.

Continuing Professional Education Credits:
At the end of this course you will receive twelve (12) contact hour credits towards your CHESP renewal.

Online Education System Requirements:
ASHES Online Education programs are hosted on the iCohere platform. You can access iCohere from any computer with internet access 24/7. A 10-minute presentation will be available prior to course start to allow course participants to familiarize themselves with iCohere. The presentation will cover how to post the required assignments, how to locate the required reading material each week, etc.

Requirements for accessing an iCohere site:

  • Internet connection (at least 56K recommended)
  • Browsers for Microsoft Windows: Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, Netscape Navigator 6.2 or later, Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or later.
