ASHES Announces Speakers For Its 23rd Annual Conference And Marketplace
Chicago, May 22, 2008 —The American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services of the American Hospital Association today announced its lineup for keynote speakers and general sessions at its Annual Conference on September 7-11 in San Antonio, Texas.

Afterburner: The Flawless Execution Experts Afterburners will present on Monday, September 8, 2008. Afterburner is a group of 50 male and female Fighter Pilots who train leaders to use Flawless Execution tools and techniques. Two members of their team will present a high-energy, multimedia team building keynote designed to help environmental services and patient transport professionals unleash the power of Flawless Execution.

Stephen Mayfield, senior vice president for Quality and Performance Improvement, American Hospital Association. Mayfield will present on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 and will focus on the leadership tools centered on the Institute for Medicine’s Six Aims for Improvement. Mayfield has an extensive background in healthcare quality. He will facilitate this motivating session focusing on the leadership role everyone needs from all areas in improving performance in healthcare facilities.

William A. Rutala, Ph.D., M.P.H. Rutala is a professor for the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina's School of Medicine, and serves as the director of Hospital Epidemiology, Occupational Health and Safety Program at the University of North Carolina Health Care System. Rutala will present on Thursday, September 11, 2008. Rutala will facilitate an in-depth session focusing on the biology of C. difficile, the diseases associated with it, its transmission route, prevalence on environmental surfaces, preventative approaches in healthcare settings and treatment of C. diff - associated disease.
